Toilet paper and Swiss paper on cardboard

51 x 51

In the last few decades, countries have shifted the imagery on their currency from historical figures to more neutral subject matter, image-washing this tool of power with nature, science and industry. The hands on the reverse of the Swiss franc are part of this image-washing trend by the Swiss National Bank, central bank in a country whose banking sector was ranked as the "most corrupt" in the world by the Tax Justice Network (Financial Secrecy Index - 2018 Results), due to their large offshore banking industry and very strict secrecy laws. The use of toilet paper mocks the begging hands of the modern Swiss franc in their act of supplication.
