When the language of value breaks down, rational economic decisions become an impossibility. Value is lost, easily stolen and readily consolidated in the hands of those closest to power. In periods of high inflation inequalities become extreme: sports stars are paid hundreds of thousands, houses sell for millions, while governments extract ever more wealth through taxation and inflation. As Manuel Belgrano said, 'Ninguna cosa tiene su valor real’.
