Millenium Shell

Shells are one of the oldest forms of commodity money used across the Americas, Asia, Africa and Australia. Shell money usually consisted of whole or partial sea shells often worked into beads or shaped. They were durable, portable and verifiable, easy to use and successful as money in places where they were scarce. This piece is a celebration of commodity money and our return to it in the new millennium.
